Ice Cult has a high level of direct confrontation and strategic depth, with frequent interaction between players. However, it does not emphasize cooperation as much.
Ice Cult offers a high level of variability with its gameboard, allowing for different experiences each time it is played. The presence of expansions adds new content and gameplay elements, enhancing the replay value. The game also provides deep strategic possibilities, allowing players to improve their strategies over time. The player interaction score is average, and the game scales well with different numbers of players. While it may take some time to learn, the depth it offers makes it worth the effort. Overall, Ice Cult has a strong replayability score of 7.92.
Ice Cult has a moderate influence of luck. The game outcome is not solely determined by random elements, but they still have a notable impact. Players have a substantial ability to mitigate randomness through strategic decisions and planning. The game relies on a balanced mix of luck and strategy, with neither element dominating the outcome.
Ice Cult is an eye-catching brain teaser for up to four tacticians. Four transparent cubes made from acrylic plastic with icons on them are the heart of the game. On a player's turn, they first rotate two cubes 90º two times; to do this, you sandwich two cubes with your fingers, pick them up to rotate them, then place them back in the holder. You can rotate the same pair of cubes twice or two different pairs. After rotating the cubes, the player moves the corresponding playing pieces — no matter to whom they belong! — according to the symbols now on top of the cubes along four racing tracks. Note that everyone is able to move everybody's playing pieces, and since the playing pieces can give each other "piggyback rides", you have to be clever to make the right moves at the right time in order to move all of your own playing pieces off the ice first.
