The Hostage Rescue Squad is a (fictional) elite tactical unit set up to rescue hostages from critical situations when negotiation had failed or is simply not an option. In the game you will be controlling three HRS Operators as they attempt daring missions to rescue hostages in a variety of missions. The Hostiles who have taken the hostages are dangerous and desperate and they will stop at nothing to prevent you succeeding in your mission. Stealth will often be the key tactic here, although sudden bursts of action are likely to be required at the right moments. This book is a solitaire game. You play the game, and the book will provide the “enemy”. You will need to add 7 standard six-sided dice. Game counters have been included at the end of the book which you can cut out or copy, and stick to card if you wish. This makes the game quicker to play. Some people might decide to photocopy the maps or use some kind of acetate sheet and dry-wipe pens, and others may even want to create their own counters or use miniatures or tokens that they already possess. Rules and mission maps are included in full colour. —description from the designer
