Thunderstone: Dragonspire is a standalone entry in the original Thunderstone deck-building system. Every player begins with a modest party deck of militia, daggers, rations, and torches. On a turn, a player chooses one of three destinations: visit the village, enter the dungeon, or rest. The village converts gold values into heroes, weapons, spells, and supplies, while experience earned in combat promotes heroes into stronger levels. Entering the dungeon commits the current hand to one monster in the three-card hall. Strength, magic attack, weapon limits, monster immunities, and light all matter; the deeper the target sits, the more darkness reduces the party’s attack. A defeated monster joins the player’s deck, often adding both victory points and a useful ability, but also making future hands more irregular. Dragonspire adds setting cards that alter global rules, plastic experience tokens, a dedicated dungeon board, and a large new selection of heroes, village cards, and monster families. Its random market and dungeon composition make every session demand a different balance of buying power and combat readiness. The game ends when a Thunderstone reaches the front of the dungeon or is claimed, and the most valuable deck wins.
