Table feel

General Quarters has a high level of direct confrontation and strategic depth in confrontation. Players must frequently pay attention to and react to each other's strategies. However, there is limited emphasis on cooperation in the game.

Replay value

General Quarters offers a high level of variability with its gameboard, expansions, and strategic depth. The game scales well with different player counts and provides an engaging experience. While it may take some time to learn, the depth it offers makes it worth the investment.

Luck profile

General Quarters has a moderate influence of luck. While random elements like dice rolls and card draws have a notable impact on the game outcome, players have substantial ability to mitigate the effects of randomness through strategic decisions and planning. The game relies on a balanced mix of luck and strategy, with player decisions playing a significant role in determining the outcome.

Overview

These two rulebooks contain the original General Quarters rules for naval miniatures. Although first published in the 1970s, their realistic and elegant game mechanics are still usable today. Somewhat counterintuitively, GQI covers World War 2, and GQII covers World War I (plus some optional enhancements for World War II). May be used with any scale naval miniatures.
