Burning Banners: Rage of the Witch Queen is a fantasy hex-and-counter wargame designed to grow with its players. Twenty-nine scenarios range from a single evening on one map with two kingdoms to a twelve-year conflict spanning four mounted maps and all six factions. In the Basic Game, armies move through large hexes, collect income, seize settlements, and resolve battles with an approachable dice system. Unit types and faction compositions create tactical identities without requiring the historical vocabulary of a traditional simulation. The Advanced Game layers in named heroes, magic, monsters guarding treasure, critical successes and failures, and cards that reshape a campaign at decisive moments. Alliances divide the kingdoms between invaders and resistance, but each commander still controls a distinct economy, reinforcement structure, and strategic geography. Scenario setup makes it easy to select a desired length and complexity, while the complete map reveals how local fronts connect across Kheros. Christopher Moeller designed and illustrated the world, giving every counter, kingdom board, and region a coherent visual identity. Burning Banners offers an unusually inviting path from a first fantasy battle to a sprawling multiplayer war without changing the world underneath the rules.
