Everdell Silverfrost is a standalone worker-placement and tableau-building game set beyond the familiar valley, where deep winter changes how every location is used. Players gather resources, play critters and constructions into a fifteen-card city, and prepare for seasonal events, but snow can block both destinations and city spaces. Fire becomes the key new resource: spend it to clear those obstructions, unlock opportunities, and keep an engine moving through the cold. Each player also commands a Ranger able to visit an occupied location or generate additional fire, creating a flexible answer to contested worker spaces. Chimneys offer another route for bringing critters into the city, while changing snowfall and challenge cards make each season feel materially different. Familiar Everdell decisions remain—pairing constructions with critters, controlling hand size, timing worker returns, and converting a growing tableau into points—but the winter systems reward resilience rather than uninterrupted efficiency. Quests supply focused objectives and a sense of expedition across the frontier. Playable on its own for one to four players, Silverfrost keeps the inviting world and card combinations of Everdell while asking players to build a city that can survive being buried and rebuilt.
