Replay value

Timberland has a high replayability score due to its high variability gameboard, impactful expansions, deep strategic possibilities, and good scalability. It offers a fresh and different experience each time it is played, allowing players to discover new tactics and strategies. The game adapts well to different player counts without compromising its appeal or balance. While it may take some time to learn, the depth it offers makes it worth the effort.

Luck profile

Timberland has a moderate influence of luck. Random elements have a notable but not exclusive impact on the game outcome. While there is some room for players to mitigate the effects of randomness through strategic decisions, luck still plays a significant role in the game. Overall, the game has a balanced mix of luck and strategy.

Overview

Timberland is a German family game about woodland management in the old days. Play is card driven according to the four seasons; fruit falls from the trees in the Autumn; in Winter, wild boar eat the fruit and run through the woods depositing seeds as they go; in the Spring and Summer the seeds grow into trees; and thereafter the trees are cut down by the axe-wielding woodcutter. Players select cards and maneuver the boar and the woodcutter in order to get the largest stand of contiguous trees. Ages 8 and up.
