Tide of Iron is a scenario-driven tactical wargame set in Western Europe during 1944 and 1945. Players build infantry squads from individual figures, deploy tanks and support weapons, and assemble a battlefield from large double-sided hex boards plus terrain overlays. Each scenario defines the map, forces, round limit, objectives, reinforcements, and special rules. During the action phase, sides alternate activating units to advance, concentrate fire, move and fire, assault, prepare opportunity fire, or use scenario actions. Range, line of sight, cover, armor, suppression, and combined fire make position and timing decisive, while command cards turn earned command into artillery, air support, leadership, and battlefield surprises. The status phase refreshes exhausted forces and advances the clock, so simply destroying units rarely replaces the need to seize ground. Six core scenarios support two competing sides and can divide each army between teammates. The result is a detailed miniature-and-hex battle system that combines cinematic dice resolution with demanding decisions about activation order, fire support, and mission tempo.
