Table feel

Smokejumpers has a high level of direct confrontation and strategic depth in confrontation. Players must frequently pay attention to and react to each other's actions. However, the game does not emphasize cooperation as much.

Luck profile

Smokejumpers has a moderate level of luck involved in the game. While random elements like dice rolls and card draws have a notable impact on the game outcome, players have substantial ability to mitigate the effects of luck through strategic decisions and planning. The game relies on a balanced mix of luck and strategy, with player decisions playing a significant role in determining the final outcome. Overall, Smokejumpers offers a good balance between luck and player agency.

Overview

(From the Introduction) Smokejumpers is a solitaire game simulating fire fighting efforts. The player assumes the role of a fire boss and must decide the most effective way of fighting a forest fire - both in terms of tactics used and value lost. Fire growth is governed by the game system with wind and fuel moisture content as the driving forces. The goal of the player is to contain the fire while keeping costs low and still be able to get home in time for supper.
