Replay value

Necromancer has a high degree of variability in its gameboard, with multiple paths to victory and variable setups. The expansions available for the game add new content and gameplay elements, enhancing the replay value. The strategic depth of the game allows players to continuously improve their strategies over time. The game scales well with different numbers of players, maintaining its appeal and balance. While it may take some time to learn, the depth it offers makes it worth the effort. Overall, Necromancer has a strong replayability score of 7.78 out of 10.

Luck profile

Necromancer has a moderate level of luck involved in the game. Random elements such as dice rolls and card draws have a notable but not exclusive impact on the game outcome. However, players have substantial ability to mitigate the effects of randomness through strategic decisions and planning. The game outcome is a balanced mix of luck and strategy, with neither element dominating. Overall, Necromancer provides a good balance between luck and player agency.

Overview

Necromancer is a fantasy game for two players. Each player becomes a Necromancer - a powerful wizard controlling the forces of the undead. As their skeletons and zombies battle, the Necromancers use their powers to take control of enemy units! The goal: to find the mystic Jewels of Power - and destroy the enemy Necromancer. A unique combat system varies the power of a player's troops according to the number of units he controls; the more undead you control, the weaker each unit is. All counters are back-printed, since any unit may change sides. (from the back of the box) Originally published in The Space Gamer #55, September 1982.
