Overview

The Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin features pairs of illustrated spoonerisms and similar transpositions as a regular humour columnn. When a collection of these "nearly matching pairs" was published in 2006, the publishers chose the format of a Memory-type game rather than a coffee table book. This 2009 publication is the second such collection. Matching pairs in the Memory game involves finding the related words printed on the cards. Since each card has its own illustration, the pictures on two matching cards will usually have nothing in common. For instance, where "Goldfinger" (gold fingers) is illustrated with a close-up of the hands of a golden statue, the matching "Golfdinger" (golf thingies) card displays a pile of golf tees.
