Table feel

The Big Idea has a high level of direct confrontation and strategic depth in confrontation. Players must frequently pay attention to and react to each other's strategies and turns. However, there is less emphasis on cooperation in the game.

Replay value

The Big Idea has a high replayability score due to its high variability gameboard, expansions available, strategic depth, scalability, and moderate easiness to learn. The game offers different experiences each time it is played, with multiple paths to victory and variable setups. The expansions add new content and gameplay elements, enhancing the replay value. There is ample room for players to improve their strategy over time, discovering new tactics and strategies. The game adapts well to different player counts without compromising its appeal or balance. While it may take some time to learn, it offers a rewarding and engaging experience.

Luck profile

The Big Idea has a moderate level of luck involved. While random elements like card draws and dice rolls have a notable impact on the game outcome, players also have the ability to mitigate the effects of luck through strategic decisions and planning. The game strikes a balanced mix of luck and strategy, with neither element dominating the gameplay. Overall, luck plays a significant role, but player strategy and decisions also have a considerable influence on the game outcome.

Overview

The Big Idea is a quick and easy card game (Cheapass style) where the players represent venture capitalists creating companies (from a noun card and an adjective card - "Erotic Pants") to take through the process of an IPO. You automatically gain a share in companies you create, and later you have opportunities to secretly invest in a company and publicly buy a share in a company. Finally, you roll a die to see which companies go public in a round: equal to or lessor than the shares issued in the company. And the pay out: based on the number of shares issued and the number of cards used in forming the company times the die roll. The game is fairly simplistic, but it's lots of fun to create names of products like "Mentholated Chicken", while agonizing over helping your opponent because their product will net you the biggest gain.
